Butterflies
Project type
Outdoor Sculpture
Butterflies explores lightness, transformation, and upward movement. A slender bronze stem rises gently from the ground, carrying delicately cut butterfly forms that appear to have paused mid-flight. The composition feels airy and vertical, drawing the eye upward as if following a slow, graceful ascent.
The butterflies are open and lace-like, allowing light to pass through them. Their shadows become part of the sculpture, shifting with the sun and adding a quiet sense of motion throughout the day. Though cast in bronze, the forms feel fragile, emphasizing the contrast between material permanence and the fleeting nature of flight.
Placed outdoors, Butterflies responds naturally to wind, light, and surrounding space. The work feels at home among gardens and open landscapes, where growth and change are already present. The sculpture does not imitate nature directly, but echoes its rhythm and delicacy.
This piece reflects themes of transformation, freedom, and gentle persistence. Butterflies invites stillness and observation, offering a moment of quiet uplift within the landscape.
