Ana Huberman – Bronze & Fine Art Sculpture

Ana Huberman is an Israeli sculptor whose work blends movement, emotion, and harmony through bronze and mixed media. Her sculptures explore the beauty of the human form, the rhythm of nature, and the expressive power of abstraction, creating pieces that feel alive from every angle. With a career spanning decades and exhibitions worldwide, her artistic voice is both deeply personal and universally resonant.

Ana was born in Uruguay to a family of immigrants who arrived in South America just before World War II from Poland. Her parents made their living out of a delicatessen shop, but art was always present at home. Her father painted as a hobby, and his greatest dream was that one of his children would carry on the family name. Bronislav Huberman, her father’s uncle, was the renowned violinist and founder of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.

From a young age, Ana showed artistic tendencies, especially with her hands. At age ten she made small roses out of bread dough, painted them, and sold them as lapel pins to her friends’ mothers. As a teenager, she spent a year in Michigan as an exchange student, again surrounded by a creative environment. The mother of the family painted, and the father, a Ford engineer, built his own violins.

She emigrated to Israel in 1962 and studied at the Arts and Crafts School in Givataim, specializing in ceramics. Though sculpture was her true passion, she turned to textile design to make a stable living, establishing a studio that produced designs and printing clichés for various companies. Sculpture remained a beloved hobby for many years.

Ana attended ceramic sculpture workshops at Shfayim for several years. In 1996 she closed her textile design studio and finally dedicated herself fully to sculpture. At first her work was entirely ceramic, but as her exhibitions grew and the public embraced her work, it became natural to move into bronze.

Her main motif is the human form, and her creativity finds expression through emotion, movement, and sensuality. Her sculptures express warmth, tenderness, humor, strength, and joy of life. Her lines are clean, her curves harmonious, and each piece offers multiple viewpoints that reveal new surprises. Her natural understanding of proportion allows her to use intentional distortions to create expressive strength and beauty.

In recent years, her style has evolved into more abstract themes, inspired heavily by nature. Always challenging the weight and rigidity of bronze, she has created collections of sea waves and airy “lace” pieces, achieving forms that feel impossibly light. She closely supervises the lost wax casting process, doing much of the wax finishing and bronze polishing herself. Her attention to detail and perfectionism define every piece she creates.

Ana’s sculptures have been exhibited worldwide in galleries and art shows across Israel, the USA, Canada, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Holland, and China, and her work is collected by art lovers around the world.

Artist Statement

The realization from a very early age that creating with my hands is a core part of who I am has guided my entire life. In my sculptures, I strive to express beauty, harmony, and emotion through clean, fluid lines and a minimalist style. I believe that aesthetics and meaning are inseparable.

My women are portrayed as I feel they truly are: strong and assertive, yet soft, caring, sensuous, and humorous. I deliberately exaggerate proportions to highlight these qualities.

Working with enduring materials and universal themes brings me balance, grounding, and a sense of continuity. The knowledge that my creations will live on long after me is profoundly comforting.

My abstract works express ideas, moods, and even music through movement and form. This freedom allows me to take flight creatively, unbound by rules, guided only by imagination.

I adore sculpting — it gives me hope, comfort, and a widening of horizons. I hope some of that reaches those who view my work.
